Stripe Onboarding Guide for Gyms

A quick reference for new gym customers setting up Stripe for Boxbase payments.

Stripe Account

Create your Stripe account early

Set up your Stripe account 2-3 weeks before switching to Boxbase. This allows time for verification and document review.

This can be done through your Boxbase account directly. Just navigate to "Settings > Box settings > Finances". That will start your Stripe onboarding process and connect it to your Boxbase account.

Complete onboarding in one go (~15min)

Have all necessary documents ready (business registration, bank info, ID). Upload everything in one session to avoid delays.

On the official documentation you can find more details for the required information. Make sure to select your country correctly: Stripe: Identity verification.

We advise you to follow the Stripe recommandation of setting up 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) for your Stripe account for improved security.
Stripe Payouts

Your Payout configuration

You can configure your payout settings in the Stripe Dashboard under "Settings > Payouts". You have options for daily, weekly, or monthly payouts. Usually the payout will arrive within 3-5 business days on your bank account.

We also advise you to keep a minimum balance of around ~200-300 € on your Stripe account. Stripe uses this balance to cover fees, refunds and chargebacks. If your balance is insufficient, Stripe will withdraw from your bank account. Refunds are covered by your Stripe balance first.

Important to know:

  • First payout is delayed (Stripe credibility check). Learn more

  • Regular Stripe payouts are free of charge.

  • Minimum balance: Configure your Stripe account to keep a minimum balance to cover fees, refunds and chargebacks. Learn more

Stripe offers instant payouts for eligible accounts. Be aware that instant payouts incur a fee. Learn more.

Accepting payment methods

Depending on your country you have different payment methods available. The pricing and fees for given payment methods vary. They can be found on the official Stripe pricing page. Just make sure you have your country selected correctly. Stripe: Pricing

If you are planning to accept SEPA Direct Debit payments be aware that the first 30 days have a weekly €10,000 processing limit. After 30 days, you can apply to increase the limit. This makes the onboarding step more important to be done early.

Important to know:

  • SEPA Direct Debit: Takes around 5 business days to process and land on your Stripe account.

  • SEPA Direct Debit Processing Limit: First 30 days, weekly €10k limit.

  • Other payment methods like credit cards are processed instantly and available in your Stripe account usually within minutes.

Depending on payment methods you want to activate, additional verification steps may be required.

How much does Stripe cost?

Stripe fees are primarily for processing transactions. Those fees vary based on the payment method used (e.g., credit card, SEPA Direct Debit) and your country. Additional fees may apply for currency conversion, instant payouts, or chargebacks. Detailed fee structures can be found on the official Stripe pricing page. Does Boxbase charge any additional fees?

Boxbase does not charge any additional fees on top of the standard Stripe fees. All fees are directly handled by Stripe. We use Stripe for all payment processing, ensuring a seamless experience for our users.
